Privacy

This page is about the waiting list on this site. RiderStorm itself is still in development. When it is released it will come with a privacy statement of its own.

The short version
#

  • We keep only what you give us in the sign-up form: your email address and, if you choose to give them, your first name and the city or region you ride from.
  • We use it only to tell you about RiderStorm.
  • It is stored on a server we run ourselves, in the Netherlands. It is not given to a newsletter or marketing service, and it is never sold or shared.
  • You can ask us to delete it at any time.

Who we are
#

RiderStorm is made by a small team in the Netherlands. We decide what happens to the waiting list and are responsible for it: under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the DPDP Act) we are its data fiduciary, and under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (the GDPR) its controller. You can reach us at [email protected], also for any complaint about how we handle your details.

What we keep
#

When you sign up, we keep:

  • your email address
  • your first name, if you give it
  • the city or region you ride from, if you give it
  • the language of the page you signed up on
  • the date and time you signed up, and the date of the privacy statement you agreed to

We do not keep your IP address with your sign-up, we do not ask where you are, and we do not combine your details with anything else.

The waiting list is for adults. Please sign up only if you are 18 or older.

Why, and on what basis
#

We use your email address to tell you when RiderStorm is available, and perhaps once before that to ask what you would need from it. Your first name lets us greet you, and where you ride from helps us choose the next regions to map.

We do this because you agreed to it, by ticking the box in the form (section 6 of the DPDP Act, and Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR). You can withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, by emailing us. We then delete your details. Withdrawing does not change what was done before.

Where it is stored
#

The waiting list is kept in a small database on a server we run ourselves, in the Netherlands. Only we can get to it. If you live in India, this means your details are stored outside India. The DPDP Act allows that, except for countries the Indian government restricts.

The site reaches you through Cloudflare, which protects it and passes your requests on to our server. Like any network provider, Cloudflare processes technical details such as your IP address to do that. You can read how in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Against spam
#

To stop automated sign-ups, our server counts the sign-up attempts that come from each IP address over a few minutes. It does this in its working memory only: the IP address is not written down, and it is forgotten after those few minutes.

How long we keep it
#

Until RiderStorm is available and we have told you, or until we decide not to release it, and in any case no longer than two years after you signed up. Sooner if you ask us.

Cookies and trackers
#

This site sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and has no analytics or trackers. Its fonts and images come from this site itself, not from any other company.

Your rights
#

You can ask us:

  • for a summary of the details we keep about you, and what we do with them
  • to correct, complete or update them
  • to delete them, which also takes you off the list
  • for a copy of them in a common format, and to stop or restrict how we use them

If you live in India, you can also name someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to. Email [email protected], and we will reply within a month.

If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India if you live in India, or to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or the authority of your own country if you live in the EU.

Changes
#

If we change this page, we change the date below. If a change affects how we use your details, we will ask for your agreement again.
